Sweet, but dryOct 10, 2011
By Pinkhat These are California dates. Sweet yet not very fleshy, rather tough and dry. The ones I purchased came in a plastic bag with a ziplock.
If you are used to the wonderful medjool dates, which are the perfect snacking date because of their large size, soft flesh and delightful sweetness, you will probably not like these ones.
However, for cooking/baking these are fine.

Outstanding Snack!Dec 06, 2009
By Gary Peterson I've got a bit of a sweet tooth. Doesn't everyone? Well, I try not to keep candy and related sugar-packed items around the house because if I do, they'll disappear. But I do like sweets now and then. I've found a wonderful natural substitute: a product put out by Sun Date. I buy 2-pound (32-ounce) containers of dates, very much like illustrated here and put out by the same company. I found them at my local warehouse club. The ones I buy are Fancy Medjool Dates with pits. The ones listed here are unspecified pitted dates. I'm sure either would work, perhaps equally well. In any case, these dates make a wonderful sweet treat for people who are trying to stay away from manufactured sweets. Plus they offer a good source of dietary fiber. Outstanding snack!

The dates were fine, but note that the packaging was rectangular, not round. Since we were sending these on, this required repacking to fit the gift tin. Not an issue if you're taking the dates out of the packaging anyway, but FYI...
