5Very long shelf lifeAug 28, 2009
By Vickie Jewell "vickieljewell"
I bought this item at Sam's Club a few years ago and I'm just now about to run out. I filled up one of those little yeast jars from the grocery store for easy access and put the bags up in the cabinet, and I've been using it this way (bread machine baking) for at least a couple of years. I've never had a problem with my bread not rising, and I've never stored the yeast in the fridge or freezer. [...]

3Ideal item only if you don't shop at a warehouse store-Nov 16, 2009
By Jason A. Gagnon
Do you shop at Costcos, BJs, or Sam's Club? If so- do not buy this here. You can get this exact same item for less than five dollars at a warehouse club. Yes, a two pound bundle just like you can get here.

If you DON'T belong to a warehouse club, buy it here. You'll save a fortune over the cost of those little envelopes of yeast.

I stopped buy store bought bread months ago, and have been using both the James Beard Bread Book and the fantastic Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day. If you are going to bake more than a handful of times in the next couple of years, you should buy yeast in this quanity. As long as you keep it in the fridge after you open it, the yeast will remain viable. Some folks put it in the freezer, but that seems to be a bit of over kill to me.

TWO AND A HALF TEASPOONS EQUALS ONE ENVELOPE.

Why three stars? If you belong to a warehouse club, this is a rip off; if you don't, this is a god-send. You should buy this product one way or another, the only question is WHERE.

5Extremely Good Yeast For Baking Bread or Making Steamed BunsAug 16, 2009
By Peter D. Mar
Unlike other brands, this product is almost tasteless and odorless. It doesn't add after taste to your baked goods. It also rise pretty quickly and make excellent tasty breads and steamed buns. It's much more economical to buy the 1 pound package when you do a lot of baking as compared to the little packets that you get at the supermarket. Apparently, I cannot find the 1 pound package of Fleischmanns yeast at any of my local supermarket or store. Luckily Amazon.com offers this product and I'm very grateful of this.

Next time when I run out, I will buy 4 pounds of this product here at Amazon.com and keep the ones that I don't need for immediate use in the freezer. It will keep for at least two years or more in the freezer and a year in the refrigerator.

5Great value, great qualityNov 25, 2010
By Andras Komaromi
Very good yeast. I use this in a bread machine, and never had any problem. Shipped pretty fast, and it is a real bargain compared to the yeast you can buy in small jars in supermarkets.

5Excellent ValueJun 01, 2009
By J in South Carolina
This is the same product that I have been buying a local grocery stores for years. There were no noticable quality differences. The price, at 25% of the least expensive local grocery supercenter (including shipping and handling), was quite noticable.

Will be buying this product again.
